This sample has references to US history as well as a discussion of the writing process. The writer of the essay noted that she was taking a history class, but the use of historical information and the use of the phrase 'we stand at a crossroads' in the last paragraph made it seem like the writer would make a great history professor. That makes it even more impressive.The next essay sample I looked at was not an example from a CCA course, but from a CCA class titled 'A Place of Your Own: A History of Columbus, Ohio'. Although the samples do have examples of essays that deal with writing more traditional topics such as politics and religion, this essay was written purely to earn an undergraduate degree. The essay included a note to the reader on how important it is to write papers that you love to read.The next sample that I looked at was from a sample CCA essay sample ti tled 'The Case For Marriage'. This was written by a current college student who was looking for a couple who could be a life partner for her. She wrote the entire essay using research on marriage, family, and values.From these CCA essay samples I saw, I was impressed with some of the results that were coming out of my student. In my opinion, the fact that she was able to use research from a specific subject to get her objective across is an example of her brilliance. When students have been able to see their own brilliance and see it applied in the writing of an essay, I think that is when they are truly appreciative.

An Investigation of Latino Participation in Politics This research examines the disjuncture between Hispanic strength in population and Hispanic participation in politics. I examine the nature of this disjuncture: its severity, its causes, and its consequences. Hispanics currently comprise 11.2% of the U.S. population, but the Hispanic vote in the 1998 elections comprised only 4.7% of all ballots cast. The situation is even bleaker when considering Hispanic representation in Congress. Currently, less than four percent of U.S. House members are Latino.
